Carers Support Worker

My role is to support Carers of people with learning disabilities at a strategic level.  This means representing Carers’ views at the Local Learning Disability Partnership Board and the Joint Commissioning Group, as well as at other meetings such as the Carers Strategy Reference Group.  It is important that I pass on information to families about  changes and developments in learning disability services within the borough, and also find out what people think about these things.   My post has been moved from CORLD to the Carers Centre as it is about supporting Carers which is what Richmond Carers Centre is all about.  The CORLD Carers Group which met every 3 months will continue to meet, although we will need to change the name.

I have some capacity to support individual Carers around specific issues and am also able to support families to write Support Plans with the person they care for when they are given Individual Budgets.  I was trained as a Support Broker by RIBS.

I will retain strong links with Richmond Homes for Life Trust and Richmond Mencap and work in partnership with other organisations who work with people with learning disabilities.

I can be contacted on 020 8867 2380 at the Carers Centre on Mondays and Wednesdays, or by email on pldcarers@richmondcarers.org.

Thanks,

Susie Rowan
